DESCRIPTION
A Center punch is a hand tool used to create a small indentation or mark on a workpiece, typically metal, wood, or plastic, to guide the starting point for drilling or machining. This indentation prevents the drill bit from wandering and helps achieve accurate hole placement. Center punches usually have a pointed tip with an included angle of about 60° to 90°, which is hardened for durability and precise marking. They are commonly constructed from high-quality tool steel and often feature a knurled or textured body for a better grip. Some designs are one-piece forged steel, ensuring strength and longevity.
