DESCRIPTION
A Plumb Bob is a simple but precise vertical alignment tool used in construction, surveying, carpentry, and masonry to establish a straight vertical reference line (“plumb”). It consists of a pointed weight, usually made from brass, steel, or cast iron, suspended on a string or cord. When the plumb bob hangs freely, gravity pulls it straight down, allowing workers to check or establish verticality for walls, posts, or other structures. Its pointed tip helps accurately mark the exact alignment point, while the weight ensures steadiness even in light wind or movement.
